Can I put my Nuaim 30oz Ice White tumbler in the freezer to pre-chill it?

Proper care to protect your tumbler's insulation technology.

This is one of the most common questions we receive, and it's important to understand why freezing is harmful to your 30oz insulated tumbler. The vacuum insulation technology relies on a sealed airless space between the inner and outer stainless steel walls. Extreme cold from freezers (typically -18°C) can cause the minimal residual air/moisture in this space to contract or condense, potentially compromising the vacuum seal that gives your tumbler its exceptional insulation performance. Additionally, if you put liquid inside and then freeze it, water expands by approximately 9% when it freezes—this expansion can create pressure that damages the inner wall or lid seal. If you want to pre-chill your tumbler for maximum cold retention (which we do recommend), use this safe method instead: fill it with ice water, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then discard that water and fill with your actual cold beverage. This chills the stainless steel without any risk of damage. The 30oz tumbler's insulation is so effective that proper pre-chilling adds 3-4 hours of additional temperature retention—you get the benefits of pre-cooling without the risks of freezing. For making frozen drinks or smoothies, freeze the ingredients separately and blend them, then pour into your room-temperature or pre-chilled tumbler.

Need to Know

Safe alternative: Keep ice cube trays ready in your freezer and add plenty of ice to your tumbler instead of freezing the tumbler itself—you'll get the same cooling effect without any risk.
