Why does my water taste metallic from metal bottles?

A metallic taste usually comes from one of two issues: aluminum bottles where the interior lining has worn away, allowing the reactive aluminum to contact your beverage, or low-grade stainless steel that contains impurities. Premium 18/8 food-grade stainless steel is completely taste-neutral because it's non-reactive.
